At Nebraska Diaper Bank Volunteer Diaper Wrapping Event you can expect to be active, move diaper boxes, unload diapers out of boxes, bundle diapers, stack and bag bundled diapers.
Diaper wrapping takes place in a warehouse setting; closed-toe shoes are required. Volunteers will be standing for the shift; we can accommodate some seated jobs.
More info about Nebraska Diaper Bank
Nebraska Diaper Bank provides diapers through collaborative partnerships to change lives and empower families in need.
Diapers are basic needs for families in the U.S., as essential to their health and well-being as shelter and clothing. Yet 1 in 3 families in Nebraska struggle to afford enough clean diapers. Households who are considered food insecure also have a high rate of diaper need for babies in their home. Nebraska Diaper Bank's goal is to eliminate the existence of diaper need in the community so that all babies can be happy, healthy, and safe.
A diaper bank model reaches the most children by partnering with social service agencies to extend our reach in the community. The diaper bank approach limits unnecessary duplication of services, reduces administrative expenses, and works collaboratively to solve a basic human need at the community level for infants and young children. By providing diapers, the diaper bank is giving an incentive to its partner organizations that could keep parents coming back to social programs that can help them break the cycle of poverty.
Ongoing Diaper Distribution:
Provides a monthly supply of 60-80 diapers to low-income children, under the age of 3, through partner organization sites. Our diaper bank partner model has a ripple effect on families by providing access to other services like healthcare, basic needs and case management that help ease the effects of poverty for families. We currently distribute about 250,000 diapers a month through 28 local partners.
Pull-Up Program:
Helps families navigate the potty training stage, eliminate diaper expense, and close the diaper need cycle. Participants receive 30 training pants monthly for up to six months.
Program Impact:
In 2022, we worked to address existing diaper need as well as expand services to children and families across the state of Nebraska by partnering with additional social service agencies. Our expansion efforts increased diaper distribution by 125%. We provided 1,337,430 diapers throughout 2022. Our impact expands far beyond just providing a diaper. In 2022, our clients reported the following outcomes just by receiving diapers:
82% were able to pay a bill or save money
38% reported being able to go to work or school
65% reported reduced stress
82% reported that their child was healthier, happier, and/or sleeping better
