Join United Way of the Midlands as we inventory kit supplies for our 5th annual Shine Bright event! This opportunity ensures we have all of the supplies we need for successful assembly of over 5,000 kits.
Volunteers will work in pairs to count and record our inventory in preparation of Shine Bright August 5-8th.
Shine Bright occurs annually before the start of each new school year to provide students with the hygiene essentials they need to feel good and build the confidence necessary to thrive in the classroom. During this event, volunteers help assemble over 5,000 hygiene kits that are distributed by social workers, school counselors and school nurses to local Kindergarten, sixth and ninth-grade students. The hygiene kits serve students in Omaha Public Schools, Council Bluffs Community Schools, Papillion-La Vista Schools, and Jobs for America’s Graduates classrooms across the state of Nebraska.
Our inventory is housed at a Werner Enterprises storage building. Volunteers must wear closed toed shoes. We also encourage volunteers to dress comfortably as there will be light lifting and moving of the product boxes weighing approximately 10 pounds.
