Life enrichment volunteers play a vital role by providing companionship and conversation that significantly enhance residents’ quality of life and sense of dignity. Loneliness is widespread among older adults in care settings with around 61% of nursing home residents experience moderate loneliness and 35% experience severe loneliness. Volunteers hinder this by fostering relationships, encouraging participation in activities, and creating moments of joy and purpose.
Responsibilities include taking individuals off campus to do fun activities like going shopping, going to the movies, out to eat, and/or baseball games.
