Who We Are

Mission: To provide food, healthcare, and a way forward to people severely affected by poverty in the Omaha area.

Founded over forty years ago in response to increased requests from members of the North Omaha community seeking food, Heart Ministry Center aims to assist people in need of life’s most basic necessities.

What We Do

Located at the corner of 24th and Binney Streets, the Heart Ministry Center is Nebraska’s largest food pantry. While the Choice Food Distribution Program and Express Pantry distributed 4 million pounds of food in 2024; even more resources are available to allow community members to thrive. The Monen Healthcare Clinic provides free medical, dental, vision, and OT/PT services. A 15-20 week Fresh Start job training program provides HR training and case management for those ready to prepare for the workforce. The on-site Fresh Start Laundromat offers affordable laundry services and employs Fresh Start graduates. Finally, the Willing Partner case management program leads participants on their path to self-sufficiency.

The Heart Ministry Center focuses on providing services that reflect community, compassion, accountability, and excellence, with dignity for all.
