Project Houseworks

Mission: To enhance lives and strengthen communities through the preservation of affordable housing.

Project Houseworks is actively addressing the affordable housing crisis through our targeted initiatives: the Home Affordability Program (HAP) and the Home Preservation Program (HPP). By implementing these initiatives, we are working to alleviate the affordable housing issue, foster stable communities, and enhance the quality of life for those we serve. 

Services include:

• Aging in Place Services help older adults remain safe in their homes. This includes no-cost renovations such as installing bathrooms and kitchens and repairing HVAC systems and roofs, which allows homeowners to avoid moving and maintain affordable housing. 

• Greenlining Home Repair Services, in partnership with Front Porch Investments, restores homes in historically underserved neighborhoods. We focus on reversing disinvestment, supporting homeownership, and enhancing property values to foster generational wealth. 

• Immigrant and Refugee Repair Services assist new homeowners encountering language and cultural challenges by offering essential home repairs and support at no cost. 

• Siembra Construcción Program provides paid mentorships for hands-on learning in construction, assisting students in acquiring valuable skills and experience
• Home Affordability Program helps low and moderate-income families and persons achieve the dream of home ownership by providing affordable purchasing opportunities.
• Brush-Up is Project Houseworks annual volunteer event where over 350 community members gather to paint the homes of 25 lower income older adults.
• Warm the Metro is an annual program we offer each fall, in partnership with the Heating and Cooling Contractors Association (HACCA). Members of HACCA provide furnace maintenance checks and free repairs (sometimes even replacements) for homeowners enrolled in Project Houseworks.
