Who We Are

Mission: To promote justice, dignity, hope and self-sufficiency through quality civil legal aid to those who have nowhere else to turn.

Since 1963, Legal Aid of Nebraska has been the only non-profit civil legal service in Nebraska. Legal Aid’s continued commitment to justice, dignity, hope and self-sufficiency through quality legal aid has given a voice to an otherwise marginalized and silent group. For low-income Nebraskans, a civil legal issue can lead to loss of job, family breakup, and ultimately a loss of hope. An uninsured medical debt, landlord-tenant dispute or divorce or child custody battle can turn taxpayers into tax consumers. Our services allow people to clear legal obstructions to stability without amassing a crippling amount of lawyer’s debt.

Legal Aid of Nebraska is the primary, and only statewide provider of direct and free civil legal services to Nebraska’s poor.

What We Do

Legal Aid is proud to provide legal services from Arthur County to Douglas County. Legal Aid works to deliver innovative, specialized programs tailored to strengthen our communities and assist those pushed to the margins of self-sufficiency. Legal Aid of Nebraska helps Nebraskans learn their rights and obtain quality legal counsel and advocacy.
