Mission: Our mission at Notre Dame Housing is to combat isolation and food insecurity, to provide education, and to provide safe, affordable housing for seniors. We recognize that seniors deserve more than just a roof over their heads; they deserve a vibrant community where they can find support and enrichment.

Notre Dame Housing (NDH) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable housing and supportive services to low-to-moderate income seniors in North Omaha. With over 25 years of experience, NDH has established a unique community.

It was in 1997, after careful evaluation and prayer, that the Notre Dame Sisters made a profound decision. Faced with the evolving circumstances surrounding their Motherhouse and former Academy, they chose to continue their mission by addressing a pressing need in our community: safe, affordable housing for seniors. This decision was not made lightly. It was born out of a deep sense of duty and a desire to extend their mission into the lives of those in need.

With meticulous planning and determination, the Sisters embarked on a journey of transformation. In 1997, they tore down the 1964 wing of the academy and embarked on the construction of new housing. Over the course of 11 years, and with two projects seamlessly rolled into one, the Sisters completed the remarkable transformation of the Motherhouse into 62 units of affordable housing.

The journey did not end there. In 2012, we celebrated a milestone with the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the final phase of Notre Dame Apartments.

We serve roughly 117 senior residents in North Omaha. What sets Notre Dame Housing apart is our commitment to creating a community in which seniors can thrive. With the employment of both a Service Coordinator and a Life Enrichment Coordinator, we go beyond traditional independent senior living. Our programming is not only free, but open to the public, including our food pantry, entertainment, and education. This inclusivity is at the heart of our mission—to serve all who seek support.
