Who We Are
FAMILY, Inc. was founded in 1991 under the umbrella of the Loess Hills Area Education Agency (AEA). In 2005, FAMILY became the first Brazelton Touchpoints site in Iowa. In 2007, Loess Hills AEA instituted the establishment of FAMILY as a separate 501c3 non-profit organization to provide more visible support to families of young children. In 2010, FAMILY became the IDPH’s TItle V Maternal and Child Public Health grantee for Pottawattamie and Mills Counties. In 2012, FAMILY earned the Iowa Family Support Credential through adherence to 139 standards set forth by the State of Iowa.
On April 24, 2024, FAMILY, Inc. rebranded as Firefly. The name Firefly reflects our strong belief that everyone has an inherent light within them. When that light dims or goes out, we at Firefly are here to share our light, ensuring that no one has to face the darkness alone. Firefly: Engage, Educate, and Inspire.
What We Do
Firefly works to empower families to build a strong foundation and healthy future through education, advocacy, support, and community connection. The vision of Firefly is that all children will learn, grow, and develop to realize their full potential.
