Who We Are

At Village Roots, we help families stay together. When parents face homelessness or crisis, their children are at real risk of entering foster care - not because of abuse, but because of poverty. We exist to change that.

Through personalized, 1:1 support and our Integrated Family Care (IFC) program, families are connected with mentor families who offer safe temporary housing and wraparound guidance. We walk alongside parents as they build stability, heal, and move toward permanent housing.

Originally established as Apex Community Services in 2023, and built on nearly two decades of experience supporting families in Omaha, we have grown into Village Roots, a renewed commitment to prevention, community connection, and holistic support. Our work is simple yet profound: strengthen families, stabilize their lives, and build a village that helps them thrive.

What We Do

Village Roots achieves its mission through the Integrated Family Care (IFC) program by pairing at-risk families with mentor families. Mentors provide 24/7 support, teaching essential parenting and independent living skills. They welcome families into their homes, offering hands-on guidance and helping them build a support system. This mentorship is key to ensuring families gain the skills and confidence needed for long-term stability and independence.
