Mission: To provide impartial, transparent, ethical, and professional law enforcement service and guardianship.

Formed in 1857, the Omaha Police Department proudly serves the community of Omaha, NE.  Located on the eastern border of Nebraska along the Missouri River. Omaha is the largest city in Nebraska, with an estimated 2013 population of over 434,000 and encompassing 130 square miles.  We are a progressive police department made up of a diverse group of a thousand men and women, sworn and non-sworn, who strive to keep Omaha a safe, family-friendly city.

We strive to maintain the trust and confidence of our citizens and employees while working to improve the quality of life. We provide an environment that results in the reduction of crime and fear of crime, improved public confidence and transparency, where appropriate, maximize efficiency through resource and technology allocation, enhanced customer service, personal and professional growth for employees, including mental and physical well-being and enhance public and traffic safety within the Omaha metropolitan area.
