Who We Are
Abide was started in 1989 by Ron and Twany Dotzler. When their neighbor girls got murdered in their own home, Ron and Twany knew they had to do something to help bring about change in North Omaha.
What We Do
OUR MISSION IS TO REVITALIZE THE INNER CITY, ONE NEIGHBORHOOD AT A TIME. Abide provides a holistic approach that focuses on developing healthy neighborhoods by focusing on the neighbor and the neighborhood.
We do this by adopting neighborhoods and building culture that leads to safer neighborhoods, stronger families, and emerging leaders. Within our adopted neighborhoods, we take on beautification projects and refurbish a stressed or condemned home with the help of volunteers and our partners. When leaders committed to serving this neighborhood move into this home, the home becomes a lighthouse – a positive, permanent presence. A lighthouse then seeks to impact the neighborhood through grill-outs, community clean-up days, and inspire a different future by showing that getting out of the community isn’t the only way to thrive.
Our goal is to adopt every block in the inner city.
Our Better Together Campus acts as a hub youth and families to come together for sports programs, camps, and other community events.
