United Way of the Midlands partners with the U.S. Postal Service’s Stamp Out Hunger food drive, the largest one-day food drive in the nation, to fight food insecurity in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro.
Locally, Stamp Out Hunger provides non-perishable food donations the following nonprofits: Heartland Family Service, Heartland Hope Mission, Salvation Army, Siena Francis House, The Stephen Center, and St. Vincent de Paul.
The National Association of Letter Carriers has requested volunteer support on May 10. There are 3 stations to which mail carriers will be bringing back donations, and we are looking for 9-12 volunteers total.
Tasks: Help postal workers unload and sort food donations into bins and trucks.
Parking: Free, public parking
Check-in: When greeted, please relay that you are there to help sort donations for the Stamp Out Hunger campaign.
USPS trucks will be coming in at around 4:00pm. Please wait for their arrival if they are not there immediately when you get there.
Each station has a separate registration page. If you are interested in bringing a group to fill all available volunteer spots, please feel free to register directly or contact volunteer@uwmidlands.org.
For questions about the volunteer opportunity, please contact Mike Blue, mjblue@uwmidlands.org or 402-890-0512.
