Who We Are
For almost 20 years Benson Plant Rescue has recycled damaged, overstock, and end of season nursery goods from area retailers as well as surplus plants from gardeners thinning or changing their gardens. Our recycled plant sales have funded our food reclamation efforts, have allowed us to donate over $75,000 to the Omaha Public Library, and have made it possible for us to give away tens of thousands of free plants to low income gardeners, active duty military, veterans, first responders, medical personnel, and teachers.
What We Do
In an effort to combat global warming, Benson Plant Rescue saves and recycles damaged, overstocked, end of season plants as well as plants from demolition or construction sites. Benson Plant Rescue offers:
- Low-Cost and even FREE plants for at-risk, minority, and low-income gardeners
- FREE plants for active duty military, veterans, first responders, healthcare workers, and teachers
- Works with court-appointed community service workers to help us and aid in their rehabilitation
- We raise funds for children’s books for Omaha Public Library
- We are currently rescuing around 40 tons of reclaimed produce annually for distribution to various non-profit organizations
If you believe in reducing methane emissions to combat global warming, feeding hungry people and nonprofits with reclaimed produce, and helping out our public libraries with money for children’s books, then Benson Plant Rescue is the place for you!
