Who We Are
The very first Hope Lodge was founded in Charleston, S.C. in 1970 after Margot Freudenberg approached her local American Cancer Society chapter with the idea. That first Hope Lodge is still in use today, having been expanded and renovated over the years to include 4 historic Charleston houses. Fittingly, Freudenberg’s portrait hangs in the original house in the “Margot Room,” which is used for support groups and yoga classes. Currently (in 2017), there are 34 Hope Lodge locations throughout the United States with Hope Lodge Omaha Nebraska being number 34. All the lodges are funded through donations made to the American Cancer Society. The American Cancer Society understands the importance of removing financial barriers for cancer patients to get the treatment they need. Staying for free at Hope Lodge can help ease their financial burdens. Simply put, Hope Lodge is a place created to ease the burden of cancer treatment – a place where we give hope a home.
What We Do
The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge Omaha Nebraska is a place where cancer patients and their caregivers can find help and hope when home is far away. Hope Lodge Omaha Nebraska offers cancer patients and their caregivers a free place to stay when their best hope for effective treatment is in Omaha or the surrounding areas. Not having to worry about where to stay or how to pay for lodging allows guests to focus on getting well. Hope Lodge provides a nurturing, home-like environment where guests can retreat to private rooms or connect with others.
