Who We Are
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands was started in 1959 by a group of young professional men who wanted to organize a community program to serve young boys who were otherwise "headed for trouble." In the fall of 1973 the Big Brothers and Big Sisters programs merged and became Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands, a joint agency to serve both boys and girls on a one-to-one basis.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands' vision is for all youth to achieve their full potential. Our mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth
What We Do
At Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands, interested volunteers can become involved in our program as a Big Brother, Big Sister or Big Couple (married couple). Mentoring isn't rocket science or about fancy ideas or grand gestures. It's about being there and having fun doing everyday things with a person who happens to look up to you.
Being a Big Brother, Big Sister or Big Couple is one of the most fulfilling roles. You have the opportunity to help shape a young person's future by empowering them to achieve. And the best part is, it's lot of fun.
Volunteering just a few hours a month with a young person can start something amazing. So why not apply to be a Big today. There are kids out there ready to get started. Are you?
We offer two distinct programs that let you decide how you can have a positive impact on a youth in our community in a way that best fits your lifestyle.
