Who We Are

Mission: To provide treatment for women recovering from addiction.

Since 1972, Santa Monica has administered a caring, comprehensive program for women who desire to live without the burdens of addiction. Santa Monica was the first halfway house in Omaha, Nebraska, designed exclusively for women. With John Kenefick’s (then-President of Union Pacific Railroad) $10,000 grant, Santa Monica began its groundbreaking work with only two residents. We remain committed to offering a holistic treatment experience. We use contemporary best practices grounded in proven research to help improve women’s mental, physical and spiritual health as they break the cycle of addiction.

What We Do

Santa Monica provides a continuum of care that empowers women to live productively, drug and alcohol free. Through structured programming and multiple approaches, we help women develop healthier behavior patterns while addressing their physical and psychological traumas. We empower women to develop a sense of personal accountability. In our programs, women focus on practical life skills, twelve-step participation, and outside employment. Each woman is provided with knowledge and tools to prevent relapse. In addition, our family education program helps those closest to her better understand her disease.
