2018 United Way of the Midlands Day of Action
On Day of Action, volunteers will commit to 1.5 - 2 hours to read and engage with children in our community in grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade. Both morning and afternoon event times are available at one of several partnering agency sites that provide out-of-school summer programming.
The 2018 United Way of the Midlands Day of Action is a day for community and corporate volunteers to reinforce the value of reading by engaging with students in multiple summer settings to read together. The goal of the day is to remind students and their families about the value of reading over the summer in order to prevent “summer slide," the loss of reading skills over the summer months.
The event is very structured so it’s great for volunteers, both seasoned and new, to enjoy some time engaging with children while helping inspire a love of reading.
Day of Action is a rewarding way to impact your community. Your two hours can have a tremendous impact on a child. Please consider signing up to help kids stay on track this summer!
