The Black Student Leadership Council (BSLC) is excited to host their annual Black Business Tour on Friday, October 17th. As part of this experience, they are providing students with access to professional clothing from the Midlands African Chamber to support their future careers.

Tasks include assisting attendees with professional attire and repacking clothes.

Outlook Enrichment is seeking bike captains to partner with our tandem bike club riders who have vision loss. Ride lengths vary, but are often 10 miles. The Corporate Cycling Challenge has 10, 25, and 42-mile options.

**Please arrive by 12:30 pm if you are planting trees with us so we can check you in. A demonstration tree planting providing all the instructions on how to properly plant a tree will start at 1 pm.***

Further Details:

Volunteers will be grouped into teams of 4 to 6, and each team will be responsible for planting 3 to 5 trees. By signing up to volunteer, you are committing to attend, as we will depend on you to ensure we are able to plant all of the trees. All volunteers are welcome, but please take into consideration the physical demands of this event. Volunteers will be asked to lift, bend, walk, kneel, and use tools such as shovels and rakes. Volunteers under the age of 19 will need to be accompanied by an adult and can be registered along with the supervising adult. If you need accommodations, please reach out directly to KOB at emily.hergenrader@Keepomahabeautiful.org.

Diaper Day is the Heart Ministry Center's day to supplement our smallest community members with diapers, wipes, and other essentials every third Monday of the month. We are looking for volunteers to help hand out items to families. Bagging diapers and wipes will be the extent of the heavy lifting!

Threshold CoC is hosting Project Connect (Formerly known as Project Homeless Connect Omaha), a FREE one-day, one-stop shop event where folx that are currently unhoused or at risk of losing their housing can receive a variety of on-site services and support. Resources available at the event consist, but are not limited to: Healthcare & Wellness, legal aid, medicaid/disability benefit application assistance, housing and shelter, workforce assistance etc. This year the event will be hosted at Baxter Arena on October 21, 2025 from 10:00 am - 3:00pm. 

Navigators will be paired with consumers on a 1:1 ratio and assist folx in accessing services they are interested in.  Folx with no knowledge or beginner understandings of the Omaha Metro Area homelessness system and its resources should register as "Beginner Navigators". Folx that have extended knowledge of the Omaha Metro Area Homelessness Continuum of Care (case managers, street outreach workers, etc) should register as "Advanced Navigators". 

Volunteers are expected to attend one (1) training session prior to the event. Three online training sessions will be available via Zoom and details will be emailed to volunteers approximately one (1) week prior to the selected training date. Volunteers are expected to create their own calendar holds prior to receiving Zoom meeting details in their email. If you are unable to join any of the sessions below, please select "NEED ALTERNATIVE TIME" and we will reach out to you with alternative training methods :)

Celebrate the season with festive treats, face painting, and fun games for our annual Fall Harvest Festival for the kids!

We are looking for volunteers to help with:

Groups of up to 10 people are welcome to sign up together, bring your friends, family, or coworkers and enjoy the festivities as a team!

Don't hesitate to sign up as we celebrate the Autumn season with sweet treats and joyful activities!

Sidewalkers are at least 14 years. They help set up and tear down equipment in the arena before, in between and/or after sessions. They also walk next to the participant during sessions and assist with balance and exercises. They must be able to comfortably walk and jog, for short distances, next to a horse while providing physical support to a participant.

Days and times that sessions are conducted:
Monday-Thursday and Saturday morning through early afternoon.
Volunteers typically work a 2-3 hour shift on their day, NOT the entire duration of sessions.

Help Keep Omaha Beautiful with data collection of present litter across Omaha! This data will be used to identify patterns, hotspots, and types of litter found in our community. We aim to analyze data and create educated recommendations based on this data collection study to implement litter solutions in Omaha in 2026. Learn more HERE.

Honey Sunday is an annual fundraiser. Proceeds benefit The Arc of Omaha at Ollie Webb Center, Inc., a local non-profit agency serving individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Honey is sold in bear-shaped 12-ounce bottles.

Volunteers are very important to this event – we’d like to involve EVERYONE! This is an excellent community service project for all ages. Volunteers, in small groups, go door-to-door in neighborhoods throughout Omaha to sell honey.

Corporations: Sell honey on site in lunchrooms or lobbies - or a friendly intra-office competition! Schools: Opportunity for Student Volunteer hours – through door-to-door sales; at local places of business; or at school sponsored activities (sports, musicals, plays) provided by student clubs, organizations and/or civics classes.

Churches and Synagogues: Youth and service groups sell either door to door or after Worship services. A great way to get community service hours.

Family and Friends: Canvas your own neighborhood; reach out and share the sweetness across the city with your family and friends. Participation is simple to arrange for group leaders. You provide the volunteers, and we handle the details.

On November 15, we will bring together the community to bring hope to a Karenni family of 6.  Help us provide comfort to this family while the father undergoes cancer treatment by donating items for their home.  The family picked out furniture, bedding, household items, pictures, and toys that they are hoping to receive!

You can purchase items directly from their Amazon wishlist and our volunteers will bring the items to the family's home on the day of the home makeover.

Bring a small team and stop down to operate the dish room during mealtimes!

Volunteers will have multiple roles including:

- Packing the professional attires,
- Steaming the professional attires,
- Transporting to the event's venue, and
- Setting the attire up for distribution at the event's venue.

CASA Volunteers amplify the voices of children who are currently in the Child Welfare System.

You'll learn your role through comprehensive training, and then you'll be assigned your own case. A coach and a CASA coordinator will be there to support you along the way as you advocate in court for your assigned children.

Every year, our Hope Center Members (ages K-12th) have the opportunity to utilize budgeting skills with the Hope bucks they've earned throughout the season. They get to purchase gifts from the Christmas shop for themselves and their families.

Volunteers help our Members shop for presents and wrap the gifts for the children to take home in time for Christmas. In addition, we ask for help with set-up, stocking, sorting gifts, cashier, and clean up.

The Regional Nurse Leader (RNL) is a front-line leader of the Nursing Network who partners with the local Regional Volunteer Services Officer (RVSO) to recruit health professional volunteers per regional needs. The RNL provides guidance on nursing and health matters and helps build the health professional network in the region. RNLs promote volunteer engagement and satisfaction across the business lines and work to achieve the Volunteer Services Chief Nurse Initiatives. The American Red Cross National Nursing Network is comprised of all Red Cross nurses. Nursing Network leaders recruit and support nurses and other health professionals across all business lines to implement strategic goals of the American Red Cross as articulated in the Chief Nurse Initiatives. The American Red Cross is divided into geographic divisions, regions and chapters for service delivery. Each division has a Division Nurse Leader (DNL) appointed by the Chief Nurse and the Director of the Nursing Network. DNLs appoint Associate Division Nurse Leaders (ADNLs) to support RNLs and to assist them according to the division's unique needs.

Responsibilities

* Proactively support and guide Red Cross units in volunteer recruitment, reception, retention, and recognition to build health professional capacity across all business lines and at all levels of the organization in support of organizational and regional priorities. Assist units in volunteer recruitment to reflect community demographics.

* Act as a resource for nursing and health in the region across all business lines, working collaboratively with Nursing Network leaders and others to achieve the Chief Nurse Initiatives.

* Establish a good working relationship with key leaders at the regional level (e.g., Emergency Services Director, CEO, nurse/health leaders in other business lines).

* Establish relationships with community partners (nurses and non-nurses) and maintain updated roster

* Coordinate meetings for regional nurses and other health professionals, engaging colleagues and partners as appropriate in support of the Chief Nurse Initiatives.

* Regularly communicate nursing and health-related successes (e.g., awards, media coverage, projects) to other Nursing Network leaders and through other communication venues

* Ensure that nurse volunteers enter their nurse-specific information in Volunteer Connection and submit all volunteer hours

* Submit all RNL hours in Volunteer Connection on at least a monthly basis and maintain an updated Volunteer Connection profile

* Complete quarterly metrics and annual Nursing & Health Leaders Diversity Survey

* Recruit and support Nursing Network Engagement Specialists as needed.

RNLs should recruit for and mentor their own replacements in consultation with RVSOs and DNLs.

The American Red Cross provides 40% of the blood supply to the country. The Biomedical volunteers are a critical element to carrying out our mission, their experience and onboard is vital to volunteer growth.
The Onboarding Lead will manage a Biomedical Volunteer Workforce Engagement team who initiate a relationship with new volunteers to the department. The team engages with the volunteer by providing assignments matching their motivation and interests, while filling Biomedical open positions and meeting service delivery demands. The Onboarding Lead will ensure that all candidates are interviewed, placed in a position, receive department overview, and are introduced to their supervisor.

The role of the Team Member is to support and document the volunteer supervisor in managing complaints against the workforce they supervise, as well as managing the process for cases that are escalated beyond the supervisor.

Coordinates with and supports Human Resource Business Partners (HRBP) and ICE on complaints

that they manage.

Heart Ministry Center has the largest food pantry in Nebraska and is need of volunteers on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:30am - 1:30pm and on Saturdays from 9:00am - 12:00pm.

(Mon. to Fri.; 9:30 AM). Pick up groceries at ISC and drop off groceries to 4-6 older adults’ homes. This usually takes approximately 90 minutes. Volunteers use their own vehicles, and ISC provides no-contact delivery at the doorstep to keep volunteers, staff, and older adults safe. You must have a current driver’s license and car insurance.

(Mon. to Fri.; hours vary but generally 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM). Help sort donations, organize the pantry and freezer areas, and organize fresh produce — tasks vary day to day, and ISC’s Food Pantry Coordinator will provide direction. Up to three people can volunteer at the same time, and tasks typically can be completed in 1-2 hours.

(Mon. to Fri.; 11:20 AM to 12:30 PM). This is a simple and fun way for you to make a difference! As an individual or a small group of 2-4 people, it takes about an hour of your time to serve hot, nutritious meals to the tables where our older adults are gathered for lunch. Our process is for volunteer teams to sign up for a single date and then consider the possibility of an ongoing commitment (monthly, quarterly, or as it fits your schedule).

(Mon. to Fri; mornings or afternoons). If you have an hour or two to give each week, we need consistent, long-term volunteers to serve our eager-to-learn older adults! We need instructors for 1 hour each weekday between the hours of 10:20 AM to 11:20 AM or 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. Whether you have formal experience as a teacher or have a passion/hobby to share, we’d love to hear from you! Some topics may include: gardening, discussion of current events, crafts, technology (using a smart phone), and more.

Kids Can mentors are dedicated volunteers who provide guidance, support, and encouragement. Mentoring matches meet once a week at the Kids Can brand new building. All mentors receive training and ongoing support from Kids Can staff. The year-long friends provide a caring, stable influence in a kid’s life.

The mentoring takes place on-site at Kids Can Community Center on 48th & Q Streets anytime from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM.

What kinds of activities do mentors and mentees do together?
Mentor pairs decide what they want to do together. Activities range from playing chess to baking a pizza to performing science experiments! Kids Can provides the activities and supplies necessary for your mentoring partnership needs.

The Wednesday Afternoon Boutique Volunteer will perform various tasks in the WCA Boutique and Sort Room during the WCA Boutique Walk in Hours from 1:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. Assisting clients in their shopping.
