Loneliness is widespread among older adults in care settings with around 61% of nursing home residents experience moderate loneliness and 35% experience severe loneliness. Volunteers hinder this by fostering relationships, encouraging participation in activities, and creating moments of joy and purpose. Responsibilities include visiting with nursing home residents, engaging in books, games, and puzzles, and escorting residents to activities or walks in the courtyard.
