Join United Way of the Midlands as we inventory supplies for our upcoming Good on the Go projects. Volunteers will assist staff in inventorying supplies for upcoming kit builds in the community. These kit builds will benefit local nonprofit partners. 

Tasks include:

Moving boxes to and from pallet*,Unpacking boxes, Inventorying supplies, Re-boxing so that supplies are ready for assembly, Separating supplies for each Good on the Go project,Maintaining inventory counts of each item**,Breaking down cardboard**, and Popping air pillows used for shipping**.

How to dress:

Closed-toe shoesComfortable clothes that can get dirty. (Boxes from shipping may be dusty.)Remember to bring a reusable water bottle.

There will be an A-frame sign welcoming visitors to the United Way of the Midlands near the elevators.

CIRT participants are an integral part of UWM’s Community Care Fund investments. As a CIRT volunteer, you will read, review, and score local program applications submitted for funding. After thoughtful dialogue and analysis, new volunteers work alongside experienced returning volunteers and UWM staff to distribute grant funds amongst the programs.

CIRT Volunteer Time Commitment:

CIRT Volunteers typically serve approximately 20 hours total during investment cycle years. Applications are reviewed in February. Meetings to determine funding and discuss the process are held March - May. There will be ongoing engagement opportunities throughout the year.Two meetings during the work week per investment cycle are required to review applications and determine funding decisions. These meetings may take up to 3.5-hours each. There will be a virtual attendance option for these meetings.

United Housing Network (UHN) Vision

By stabilizing housing, we empower families to regain control, prevent future crises and build lasting financial security.

Volunteers will facilitate classes to families served to build knowledge and lasting financial security. In partnership with Financial Beginnings volunteers will be trained in Financial Beginnings Forward Program curriculum facilitation. UHN Classes will be held at various times on weekdays depending on the schedules of the families currently in the program. We anticipate smaller class sizes as we launch the network with a goal of 15 attendees as the UNH grows.

Financial Beginnings Forward Program Summary 

The Forward Program combines group learning and hands-on activities to empower economically vulnerable adults to mitigate debt, establish savings, and increase their financial stability, to protect income, shelter, and insurance when cash is short. This program helps you make a difference in the lives of those you serve. Through increased financial capability, individuals’ life opportunities are extended – from savings to higher education to housing to secure retirement. Empower others to take control of their financial futures.

 

Responsibilities:

Attend all Train the Trainer classes with Financial Beginnings.  Facilitate classes of varying sizes from 1-15 people. No prior knowledge of finance is required.Volunteers should plan to facilitate at least one class every 6 months to maintain active volunteer status.This is a great opportunity for those with a passion to teach or train. Maintains professional conduct, confidentiality, and ethical standards at all times.English proficiency sufficient for communication. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.

 

Physical Requirements:

Volunteers may sit or stand while facilitatingReasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.The noise level if the work environment is typically low.
