About P4K's Book Buddy Program: Twice a month, Book Buddies reinforce the importance of school attendance and reading at home and school. P4K provides each student with a copy of a book to build their at-home library.


What Book Buddies Do: In Kindergarten through 4th grade classrooms, Book Buddies read to a classroom or with small groups of students, then conduct a reading comprehension activity with the studnets and help from teachers. students

Program Commitment: One school year

Time Commitment: 1 hour (30mins for each classroom), twice a month, September – May (school year)

What Goal Buddies Do: Twice a month, Goal Buddies present P4K curriculum to two classrooms, with the assistance of the teachers. Topics include: career options, colleges, goal setting, healthy relationships, and school attendance.

Program Commitment: One school year

Time Commitment: 1 hour (30mins for each classroom), twice a month, September – May (school year)

A Group Mentor is matched with a group of up to four students and meets with their mentees twice a month and together they pursue career exploration and post-secondary planning. Curriculum is built to facilitate discussions about school attendance, financial and health literacy, post-secondary plans, and career options. Additionally, occasional group outings deepen the mentor/mentee relationship.

Program Commitment: One school year

Time Commitment: 1.5 hr, average of 2 times a month after school, September – May (school year)

Middle Schools: Lewis & Clark, McMillan, Marrs, Norris, and Monroe
High Schools: Benson, Central, North, and South High School

Agency: Partnership 4 Kids
