Volunteer: Year of the Neighbor - Community Good on the Go

“We know families facing food insecurity need more than food; they need stability to avoid homelessness and build self-sufficiency” – Heartland Hope Mission

In the metro, 119,000 people don’t have enough to eat or know where their next meal will come from. To address this need, the United Way of the Midlands Good on the Go initiative provides essential items to support vital nonprofit programming.

In partnership with Mayor Ewing and in celebration of the Year of the Neighbor initiative, join an opportunity for individuals or teams to participate in a Good on the Go kit build benefiting local nonprofit partners.

Let's make a difference and have fun too!

Tasks include:

 - Writing encouragement cards

 - Assembling Snack Pack kits in an assembly line

 - Assisting with boxing completed kits

 - Breaking down cardboard

What to expect:

 - Mayor John Ewing & United Way of the Midlands President & CEO Shawna Forsberg will welcome volunteers and kick-off the project with remarks to be followed by volunteer orientation and instruction from the UWM team.

 - The project will take place in the UWM Google Training Center, a conference room.

 - Volunteers can expect a room full of community members ready to lend a hand with a moderate noise level.

 - Volunteers will stand in assembly lines.

 - Please dress in whatever you are most comfortable.

 - Tasks involve light lifting and bending.

 - Reasonable accommodation will be made upon request. We have a spot for you!

***If all spots are full, please email volunteer@uwmidlands.org to be put onto a wait list!
